Following continued growth and expansion, EMS have opened a new ambulance station in the heart of Suffolk. The new custom built station will now be home to EMS's East of England Operation, allowing for its fleet of 8 vehicles to have a permanent base. The second floor provides a large open-plan crewroom with all the modern facilities such as Sky TV, Games Area and "Study Zone" with computers, printers and internet access designed to allow staff to spend time on their CPD Portfolios. Adjacent to the crewroom is a large operational store room which contains a rich library of medical equipment and running stores for the vehicles. The premises has ample parking to the rear yard, which is also used for practical training nights and simulations.

Kal Wells, Operations Manager for Suffolk & Cambridgeshire said "I am delighted with the finished station, it really is something special and provides a superb area for the managers and crews to work from. The crew rest area really does make the station feel like a home from home and the study zone is a huge benefit to allow staff to access and engage in learning materials. We should all feel proud of the work that has gone into making EMS a professional modern organisation and it's down to the hard effort of the staff that we are able to benefit from these new premises."

EMS chosen by event providers for fifth year running

EMS are pleased to announce that it has again for the 5th year running secured contracts to provide full medical management and cover at the British Eventing Horse Trials in the East of England. The popular 2 day event attracts riders and competitors ranging from amateur to world class, including her majesty the Queens grand-daughter. In addition to the 2 BE events, EMS secured a further 7 equestrian events based on the same site. Further, British Cycling have again confirmed the 2011 series of Road Racing (UK Wide) which can attract upwards of 3000 bike riders per day on a 100 mile time trial race.  The company provides both Front Line Ambulances, Rapid Response Cars as well as Emergency Medical Centres. Our road race events include a Mobile Control Room and specifically trained control staff who come from both Fire and Police Control Room backgrounds.  All our vehicles and static units are staffed by the companies Paramedics, Technicians and Nurses.

Richard Brown commented "I am really pleased that the organisers have come back to us again for the fifth year running, we have always taken our event cover seriously by ensuring that the most appropriate resources are supplied to the event and the control staff are aware of how to use those resources available to them. We have built an excellent professional relationship with both the NHS Ambulance Services and Acute Hospitals in each other locations that these events run, and because of the presence of qualified staff not only onsite, but around the 100 mile route we have minimised call outs on the Ambulance Trusts, and reduced the number of patients that would typically present to the A&E Department by being able to "see & treat" most of the injuries or refer to a more appropriate resource for further care."
